Audio Park Personnel

Park Peters

Park Peters came into the world with perfect pitch and an interest in music. He liked to play with his mother’s pots and pans with a wooden spoon, but if the pitch wasn’t perfect, he threw the pan out.

Although blind since birth, Park began his professional career while still in high school as a solo jazz pianist and vocalist. His interest in electronics and recording equipment also began at an early age. He put his knowledge to good use by maintaining his keyboards and sound systems, and he also produced his own demo tapes.

In the late 1970’s, Park worked for many of Denver’s major recording studios as a synthesizer programmer, keyboardist, and vocalist. While attending college, he started his own recording studio in the Denver area, Audio Park Recording Studio, which he still operates today.

In 1982, Park recorded and produced his first album, Anonymously Yours, He recorded it in his basement on two four-track machines. It sold over 1200 copies. His second release in 1984, Positively Yours, sold 1500 copies and helped to expand his studio. Park followed these with Spirals of Music in 1986 and Call It What You Like in 1991. Most of the compositions on these four albums were written by Park. The success of his albums led to live performances at various jazz festivals and concert series thoughout Colorado as well as other states.

Through the years the studio grew, and Park took an active part in producing and recording other artists. Some of his projects include Rob Mullins, Tokyo Nights; Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Another Mayberry; Dean Peer, Risks and Missions; and Tom Wasinger, The World Sings Goodnight.

Park has also worked on music productions for several commercials and industrial videos for such companies as: AT&T, McDonalds, KUSA-TV, Industrial Expositions, Cellular One, and US West.

Currently, Audio Park Recording Studio demands most of Park’s time, but he stilll enjoys writing and producing his own material. And, occasionally, he still bangs on pots and pans.

Nathan Leake

Nathan Leake was born into the music industry. His father is a working piano player in the Denver area who also teaches piano. As a youngster, Nathan spent many nights socializing with jazz musicians and playing pool between naps on a couch behind the drummer. You’d be amazed what one can learn by spending evenings in piano bars and jazz clubs.

At age 5, Nathan started playing piano exclusively and by high school he was playing various horns and stringed instruments. In his first year of high school, he performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and by his junior year Nathan was section captain of his school’s field battery.

After a brief stint playing for the Wyoming Troopers in Drum Corps International, Nathan was accepted to the University of Colorado School of Music majoring in percussion. After finishing theory, scoring, and music technology classes at CU, Nathan transferred to the University of Colorado at Denver. Splitting time between school and working at Sun Microsystems learning about network design, it was at CU Denver where he found his love for the recording arts.

At UCD, Nathan excelled in the subjects of recording engineering and sound for film, as well as the physics of sound. After a semester final, Dean Roy Pritts stated that Nathan had “out-Mancini’ed” Henry Mancini. At that moment, he knew that recording was a field in which he could excel. Once Mr. Pritts observed Nathan's unique aptitude for recording, he suggested that Nathan contact Park Peters, a former student, to apply as an intern at Audio Park Recording.

Since graduating from college in 2001, Nathan has been working full time with Park at Audio Park Recording. He has spent that time mastering his skills as an engineer, spending thousands of hours of editing, building equipment, rebuilding computers, designing Audio Park’s mobile studio, and acting as co-designer of Audio Park’s new recording facility.

Even though Nathan spends most of his time working at Audio Park Recording, he enjoys playing indoor soccer, snowboarding, fishing, and golfing in his “spare time.” And occasionally, he still takes naps on the couch.
